Taj Mahal Adventures!

Namaste everybody!

Sarahji here telling you guys all about our AMAZING time at the Taj Mahal! We all wanted to see the Taj at sunrise so we started off our day waking up at the crack of dawn to go get in line. Tully and I thought what a better opportunity to wear our saree’s than at the Taj Mahal! Thakfully Kaila knew how to wrap a saree (she learned from her host family in Varanasi) but throughout the day we realized our saree’s were not up to Indian standards.  Very kindly some amazing women helped us out and rewrapped our saree’s. But back to the Taj… I would say it exceeded my expectations. The complex is very large but honestly I felt like an ant under that massive dome. It’s still incredible to me that this tomb was built thousands of years ago. Really wanting to dive deep into Agra’s history we continued our journey to the Agra Fort. Which was another structural marvel. The fort seemed to be endless, with palaces, libraries, hot tubs, prison cells and the list goes on. We opted for chance to have a tour guide which was a good investment because none of us had any idea what the Agra fort was! After a long day of history we ended our day at the gardens right across the river from the Taj just in time for sunset. Our group had a very touching moment on the riverbank. During our appreciation circle it really hit us that we do not have much time left with these people we have learned to know and love over the course of these three months. And by Ellen’s suggestion we all hugged it out. It was a perfect end to a perfect day!
