Local Ecuadorian Dance

Today we were walking the streets of Quito on a scavenger hunt when we were contacted by our OE’s. Topher and Lindsay proceeded to inform us of our “secret assignment.” We were to learn a few steps of a traditional Ecuadorian dance and teach it to the rest of the group. We hung up the pay phone and proceeded to ponder how on earth we were going to find a local willing to take the time out of his day to teach five “gringos” a traditional dance. In the midst of our deliberations one of our group, Levi, turned around with a smile that would make a crocodile blush and said “guys look.” We all turned around to behold a band of Ecuadorian natives stepping off of a bus dressed in what we could only assume was traditional Incan garb with 6 foot spears in their hands. Entranced by this burst of good fortune we all skipped down to the costumed gang of locals and asked them of their purpose. After much laughing and gesticulating on both our parts we learned that they were about to dance! They excitedly beckoned us to follow them and proceeded to put on a remarkable display
