Well we did it! We successfully finished our student directed travel week, of course not without a few bumps along the road. But before I get into that, I would just like everyone to know that what we thought was impossible, is actually possible! We found bagels in Cusco, Peru! … Along with probably the most beautiful Israli people to ever set food in this world.

So we began our journey on Monday with a quick bus ride to Pisac, located in the Sacred valley. Pisac is known for its ruins and markets every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Although Joseph and I took these few days here to relax and take time to ourselves, many others took full advantage of the beauty of the ruins, dissapearing in daylight and not re-emerging until after dark.

We shipped out of Pisac (an hour late of course) on Wednesdy and headed about 30 minutes down the road to Urubamba, which is the largest town in the Sacred Valley. These next few days were spent visiting more ruins and salt bins in Ollantaytambo and living out every little kids dream- to be driven to the top of a big hill and get to bike all the way down, because, lets be real, who ever wants to bike UP the hill? Only in our case, the “big hill” was actually the Andean Mountains. It was as wonderful as it sounds, the scenery, the wind in your hair…..
until Ella decided she needed some attention and flipped over her handle bars, face first into the pavement and chipped a tooth. Cheridyn, taking on the mother figure, was 10x more concerned then Ella. Ella was a ROCKSTAR!!!!! Luckily, she was able to get that tooth fixed within 12 hours. Now she has a snazzy fixed tooth and an awesome story to tell!

I´ve had some of the best trout here in Urumaba, also the biggest, and cheapest at a mere 10 soles for a piece of fish twice the size of my own head.

And now here we are, in Puerto Maldonado awaiting our departure on Tuesday into the Amazon jungle! We get to spend our time waiting with a free pancake breakfast, amazing (expensive) Tai food and these cute little guys who love to climb on your shoulders and head!
