Malcolm is an avid traveler who grew up on a school campus and has been passionate about education his whole life. He went to college at Sewanee and then became an English teacher, but left the classroom to lead student groups on educational journeys around the world. He loves to read, play board games, and spend time in nature, and is always excited to try new foods.

Kayla Watson is a nature-based educator, wilderness guide, and an International Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher. She has spent most of her adult life guiding international service-learning programs for students. She recently settled in Western North Carolina where she tends her beautiful garden, makes sourdough and ferments, and co-leads classes in whittling, block printing, creative writing, and nature studies through the Wild Remembering School.

Some tips and tricks for a long backpacking trip like the Southeast Asia program are to take care of your body and be mindful of what you need in order to feel happy and healthy. Be flexible and open minded to new experiences and changing plans. Pack versatile items of clothing that can be worn and used for multiple settings and activities.
