Mompiche, Free Travel, as decided upon by the group

African dance lessons, surfing, delicious burritos for only two fifty, bonfires on the beach, baked treats, a sweet hostal, and sleep. These were some of the great experiences we had in the small fishing village of Mompiche. As of four years ago there was not even a road to the village the only way to access it was by boat. We arrived early Wednesday morning and all crashed after a full 20 hours of travel. The next day a search for a laundry mat began. After going all over town we finally were directed to the house of a fellow gringo. She had named herself Serina which means mermaid in Spanish. She has been living in Mompiche for the last seven years and has the sweetest five story house. She directed us to the laundry mat, a house approximately 15 feet from the front of our hostal. Yes a tad embarrassing, but our time in Mompiche would have been a lot different if we had not pursued a laundry mat all over town. Serina was responsible for showing us the best restaurants in town, inviting us to African dance at her house, and making breakfast for some of us who helped with working on her house. We have already discussed with the leaders potentially having Mompiche be part of the trip itinerary with Serina as the contact. The next three days were spent catching up on sleep, enjoying the Pacific Ocean, and mentally preparing for the two days of traveling to Arequipa. Mompiche turned out to be a relaxing but still active piece of the trip and I will remember fondly for many years to come.

There is no sense being pessimistic, it wouldn’t work anyway
