Living it up on Playa Gigante!

Hey all! Our group has been all about that swell and barrels as we are digging the surfers vibe in Playa Gigante. Project WOO (Waves of Optimism) has shown us what community projects can do in bringing people together. This was especially true today as we held a community surf day for the kids and their families. It was super fun, just seeing kids enjoying the beach and learning to surf. We also played frisbee, swam and played a little bit of Futbol and Beisball. Then after we chowed down on delicious a bbq by Lucia who is a very friendly face of the Gigante community and WOO volunteers. Our fellow musicans Vaga-Band (Mac and Maggie) played on the guitar and uke, and Lucia’s husband jumped in there too. It was a chill time with the chill tunes.

Other community projects include: Painting the school and spending time with the kids at the school, learning more about Gigante with a fun surf day.

Yesterday we had the awesome opportunity to save a beached hump back whale! (pictures below) Sadly though it did not make it through. Despite the communities efforts. 🙁

Apart of our beautiful days at the beach include going to Spanish classes, which are amazing because of the great teachers and the absolutely stunning view of the beach.

Our week has definitely flew by so the next time you here from us might be in Leon/Las Pinatas, during our student directed travel!
