Jammin’ in Jaipur

Salutations from The magical city of Udaipur!! Although it has been only a few days since the last blog post, many significant events have transpired in the meanwhile.  We had an UNBELIEVABLE couple of days in Jaipur, staying in homestays. On our second homestay adventure of the trip, we were split up into pairs and were able to share the experience with a buddy. Being the only two boys, Matt and I roomed together, and we had an incredible time with our host family. Our mother, Vinita-ji was an extremely gregarious woman who was profusely knowledgeable in the ways of Indian and Rajasthani culture and history. Every night over a delectably spicy meal, she would shower Matt and me with information pertaining to Jaipur and Udaipur. Our  eight year old host-sister named Navia was equally as outgoing as Vinita-ji, and she loved to play games, have tickle fights, and translate for Grandma.

During our time “out on the town”, we had the great fortune of visiting some extremely ancient archaeological sights such as the Amber Fort and the surrounding area. We liked it so much that while Matthew was off getting his new tattoo, Payton and I even decided to go back and indulge ourselves in an elephant ride back up to the fort, and we proceeded to climb all the way up to the wall of the fort to watch the sun set behind the fort. The next day, we were taken to an art museum and saw some of the finest exhibits that Jaipur had to offer. It was truly delightful.

Now we are in Udaipur, getting ready for our rural homestays in Jhadol. We are headed into the Village tomorrow, and we will reconnect with all of our wonderful stories in a few days!

Much love,

Bradley.
