Bula! (hello) from Fiji!!!!

Family and Friends,

Ben here to let you know that we have arrived!! We crossed the infamous date line and missed Friday, arriving bright and early on Saturday morning at 5:30am. We slowly made our way to a local bus to take us to where we were staying which unexpectedly took us on a beautiful two hour scenic drive which was full of awe (and some sleep) of the lush vegetation and beautiful rolling hills of Fiji. We arrived at the Tubakula Beach Bungalows and immediately fell in love with the beauty that we are surrounded by and began to connect. Our leaders Simone and Skylar had  a packed day for us with orientation information and some activities to help us get to know one another. We then went into town to a local market to grab some delicious, fresh, and local treats to make homemade meals while we were at the Bungalows. We got back to the bungalows just in time to share a gorgeous beach sunset together. After dinner the day just kept getting better with a special ceremony to get us on the same page in what we want to get out of this trip. Some of us decided to wake up the next morning for a unforgettable sunrise. We then spent the day doing more of the same: laughing, smiling, and continuing to become our family for the next three months. Monday (today) we met a local guide named Albert and hiked up to a historic fort where we enjoyed  beautiful scenic views and learning the history of the tribe that fought there for so many years. We then made our way back to town and are now on a fun scavenger hunt.  It seems safe to say that none of us have experienced a connection with a group of peers the way we have, and in such a short time! This will truly be an experience of a lifetime and one we will never forget. We miss all of you.

We all want to say “Vinaka Vakelevu!” (thank you very much) for sending us on this amazing adventure.

Moce (goodbye) till next time
