E hō mai E hō mai E hō mai ē

The E hō mai is a chant to grant us knowledge from above. Hawaii has given us more than we could ever hope to return. The islands have taught us patience, empathy, history, restoration, gratitude, and of course the game of Catan. With heavy hearts we made the long drive yesterday to the airport. Tears, laughter, letters and a “jelly-roll” hug softened the blow of departure. The last 70 days have been the adventure of a lifetime that would not have been possible without our gifted students. We thank them for the knowledge they have given us this semester. Stace and I will miss their smiles, laughter, and wisdom. The seven students impressed us every single day and all have bright futures. We hope they bring a little piece of Hawaii home with them and spread the islands’ knowledge in a meaningful way. Mahalo.
