Namaste Shanti travelers! With our departure for India only a few short days away, we are thrilled to share our first blog post of the Spring. As the semester progresses, this blog will take the form of a (mostly) weekly update of our journey through India, written by students. Friends and family can look forward to reading stories about city life, overnight trains, yoga, ancient temples, outdoor adventures, home-stays, and much more!
A little bit about us: we are Diane and Peter, the Carpe Diem Overseas Educators who will be helping the group navigate and process the vibrant sights, sounds, and smells of India. Diane is excited to be returning to lead her second semester in India with Carpe Diem in the past two years. Peter is equally stoked to share his love for India with the group, which initially grew out of spending a semester in India while in college. Together with the whole Carpe Diem staff, we’ve been spending the past week and a half in Portland planning our semester, and we can’t believe it’s finally about to start! We look forward to the bonding and learning that is sure to be a big part of our next three months.
In these final days before our semester begins, we are enjoying the company of our friends and family, the convenience and comforts of home, and the love of our communities— we hope that all of the Shanti crew is doing the same. We have a journey ahead that will certainly stretch us at times, but with the support of each member of the Shanti crew, there’s no limit to the memories, growth, and transformation that lies ahead.
We know that the ability to travel to India for three months as a member of a caring and thoughtful community is special, and we couldn’t be more excited to spend our next three months in any other way. So here’s to the rich history of India, the diverse people and ideas, the fascinating cultures, and the great memories to be made in the next three months.
Stay tuned for more to come!
Shanti (Peace),
Your Team Shanti OEs
