Howdy Y'all,
Hope everyone is doing great back in the States. Here in New Zealand we have been working hard on the Hart Family Farm. So far we have learned all about sustainable farming and how to appreciate where our food comes from. All of the meals that the students have prepared have featured food that came directly from the farm, even the meat! One night we had the opportunity to make our own pizzas in a wood fire oven. During the day we have been doing all kinds of work on the farm, including: Milking cows, feeding pigs, collecting eggs, pruning trees for lumber, and making compost piles to be used in vegetable gardens. In our offtime, we have been hanging out in the awesome Eco Lodge that was built by some of the men on the farm, our view of the lake from the porch was simply outstanding. During downtime we have been kayaking, hanging out with the family, and playing sports on the lawn. On our day off, we got the chance to explore the nearby town of Hastings and go to a local Farmer's Market. We ended our day with a relaxing trip to the beach. This week, we will be heading to the Blue Mountain Adventure Center for a week of outrageous outdoor activities!
Until next week, you stay classy America.
