Thank Ya Thank Ya Thank Ya

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m not going to lie to y’all, I am ready to go home. These past three months have been more amazing, eye-opening, and life-altering than I could have asked for. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to come on this trip. But, it’s time to go back to the States. It’s time to see my mom and my sisters who have already bought the Christmas tree so that we can decorate the house ASAP. It’s time to see my dad, who is driving five hours from his home in Oklahoma to see me (and bring me pecan pie, please!). It’s time to see my neighbors, my aunts, my uncles, and my cousins because I honestly can’t wait one second longer to tell them “Merry Christmas” and catch up with them. It’s time to see my friends, so that we can eat way too many Christmas cookies and sing way too many Christmas carols. It’s time for Dr. Pepper, BRGR Mac and Cheese (which I have mentioned at least once a week to my group for the past three months), and Harry Potter marathons. But most of all, it’s time to give thanks to my group for being my great, dysfunctional and wonderful family for the past three months.
This new family of mine will follow me home to Kansas City. I know they will only be a phone call away. I know I will be texting and snapchatting them about everything, from my daily outfits to my bowel movements. I know that next year on my birthday, they will probably all text me forty times each because that is about how many times they have told me happy birthday today. I love my newest family members, and I know they will be a major part of my life for many years to come.
