It was a very cool experience seeing my first Thai temple. We were walking around the old city of Chang Mai when Olivia spotted it from a distance over some low buildings and said “woah what is that!?.” So we all decided that whatever it was that we were doing wasn’t as important and we walked over. We walked in behind some newer buildings and past an unusual number of taxis and came upon the square. There were a bunch of smaller newer temples that we walked into without our shoes on and peaked inside to see a statue of a monk meditating. As we continued to walk around the huge temple, we came across a group of musicians playing traditional Thai music. It was a very eye-opening experience as one of our first days in the city. We all stopped and listened for a while.
We can’t wait to start our home-stays tomorrow in the village of Mae Rim!
This is life.
