Excitement is growing as our departure day quickly approaches for our upcoming adventure to South America. Ryan and I (Cheridyn) are here in Portland at Carpe Leader training, busy with preparations. To you amazing 12 students who will be joining us on this adventure, let us know if you have any questions or needs as you continue with your preparations.
After three nights of camping in the woods, it was time to switch gears into urban mode for a Scavenger hunt around Portland. Nothing felt better than a hot shower and a tasty cheeseburger before jumping on our bikesand heading out. We had many new discoveries including Finnegan’s Toys & Game Store and the Maltnomah County Library. We also created a delicious smorgasbord dinner from the plethora of food cart options…we have an even longer list of foods we have yet to try. As we ate our dinner, we were entertained by the incredible coordinated flight of thousands of swifts (small birds) returning at dusk to their resident home, an old school chimney. Our own return home was highlighted by the rising Harvest Moon as we crossed the Broadway Bridge. Que linda dia (what a beautiful day) and we can’t wait for many more beautiful days and new adventures in Ecuador and Peru.
