Sawatdeekha(Khrap),
Now that we’ve appropriately begun our first blog post by butchering the Thai Language, hello. On our first full day in Thailand, we (the dream team of Finn, Siena, and I) wandered like lost puppies through the streets of Chiang Mai with 300 baht to do as many things as we could on the list we were given such as: find a map of Chiang Mai, find out what the flower of Thailand is, go to Wat Chiang Lueng (sp?) and casually converse with monks, etc.
The three of us owe the majority of our success to one lady who we found in a tourist shop that we bugged with a large number of our incessant questions. To be honest, a large reason why we were in and out so often was because the air conditioning in there felt like a wonderful reprieve from the baking sun and humidity of Thailand.
On our own, we weren’t so successful and ended up wandering along for a long period of time without much success and we may or may not have accidentally stalked a few monks. The three of us were relieved to take a reprieve for a smoothie break bonding session (strawberry, guava, and passionfruit in case you were curious) where we all dug into a delicious plate of Mango Sticky Rice (10/10 would recommend) and bonded. What we discussed shall remain confidential.
We ended our scavenger hunt by eventually finding a small internet cafe inside of a shop where fish eat the dead skin off our feet and emailing our dearest loved ones (that’s you guys) to remind them of our existence and continued survival.
No doubt we’ll have many more stories to tell you later on. As for the moment, we are heading off to the night market and prepared to buy an entire collection of elephant pants.
See you soon!
