After our departure from Entebbe, we taxied our way through the city of Kampala weaving our way through some of the most insane streets, I have ever seen. Although our driver flawlessly travelled through the chaos of Kampala without a scratch every intersections and motorcycle seemed to bring us inches from death. The term culture shock that every on has talked about has truly resonated in my mind. It’s weird to think that so many people around the globe are experiencing life in conditions so different from what we consider the norm. Quality of life is a cherished aspect of the modern world; we spend our lives focused on how successfully we can move through the ranks of the material world. After driving through Kampala and seeing such an authentic culture so different from our own, it’s truly amazing to see those who can smile and laugh even without the material wealth that our society relies on so much for happiness.
