Hiya!
Rachel here. I've officially been in Tasmania a little over a month and what a month it's been. I am staying at Pindari Herb Farm, a family owned and operated herbal farm and dispensary just outside of Launceston Tas. It is absolutely beautiful here. I wake up each morning and head to the kitchen located in the main house just a minute walk away from my cottage. There I check in with my mentor and host mother Giovi. Giovi is from Argentina but has been located in Australia for forty years. About twenty years in she met her husband Ken, a herbalist and ex pharmacist. Ken had owned Pindari for a few years and already it was an established center for herbalism. Over the years they worked as a team building their humble business and holding seminars . Ken passed away around a year and a half ago leaving Giovi with two children and a full business to run. My main job at Pindari is to assist Giovi in the dispensary and factory. Over the last month I have learned how to make herbal tinctures, press oils and caster homeopathics. As someone very interested in natural medicine Pindari has been perfection. I am learning something new everyday, including improving basic skills like how to keep a clean work space and space management. The second week I was here we held a large seminar with over 25 people staying on the farm and frequenting the main house. I was staying in the main house at the time and everyday was a whirl wind. I found my prior experiences of group living helped me interact in this insane environment. Once seminar was over it was back to getting the business in order. It was also spent getting prepped to go on a week long holiday in Melbourne. Melbourne was amazing, there was so much great food, music and art. Once again I found perfection in old Oz. Now I'm back on the farm which means it's time to get back to work. I'm so excited to see what new skills and experiences I have in the next two months.
Cheers!
Rachel
