Where do I even begin to describe the unbelievable week we’ve had in the outback. From riding camels (yes there are camels in Austrailia), to sleeping in swags under the stars and cooking our entire meal over the campfire, we’ve truly had the authentic outback camping experience. It all started last Thursday when we were picked up bright and early by our enthusiastic guide Tamara in her safari car, nicknamed Chewy. We were all in awe as we watched the city get smaller behind us and saw the vast open beauty of the desert begin to surround us. With our heads out the windows, hair whipping in the wind, we took in the sunny blue skies and red sand as far as the eye could see. We drove for about 6 hours that day and stoped at a camel farm to break up the journey. Riding camels had to be one of the most hilarious experiences we’ve had all semester. We have a priceless video of Anna that’s been our sole entertainment on our long rides in Chewy and we still pee our pants watching it for the hundreth time. Each day we would spend coutless hours in that car jamming to Tamara’s Aussie tunes and drive to all different scenic spots to hike and learn about aboriginal history. At night we would set up camp, sometimes having electricity, sometimes not, and Tamara would cook us delicious gourmet meals all on the campfire. My favorite part of the adventure however, came after we finished dinner and went through the long clean up process. Rolling out our swags and experiencing the spectacular Southern stars was the best part of the day for sure. I will always look back fondly on our crazy amazing week in the outback, especially because this was my first real camping experience 🙂 I’m sad to see it go but our next stop at the yoga retreat is sure to be fabulous as well. Sending much love to you all back home. Shout out to my fam.
