This past week living and working at Sheila’a organic farm has been unbelievable. When we arrived on Monday, we were welcomed to a beautiful property by the wonderful Sheila. Her and Anne have been so generous with their land and time and I know our whole group appreciates what they’re doing for us. Our first two days of work were spent on Anne’s farm, completing projects like chopping up wood from fallen trees, cleaning out the calf shed (as Bilbo wrote), clearing space around native trees, and the project I worked on with Syd, building a fence from scratch! It was amazing to see how much work we could get done as a group, and even more amazing to see how much work goes into every task on an organic farm.

For the past few days we’ve been on Sheila’s farm, where were staying, doing projects all based in the goal of improving the quality of the stream that runs through her property. Teams built water troughs, weeded, and planted trees all towards that effort. We also had a team seal off a hole under a fence (in waist-deep mud) and my team of Will and Daphne created the base for a cow scale.

In the afternoons we’ve done incredible activities, from sailing and fishing to discussing positive psychology and love languages. All the work and time together has made us so much closer, and I’m excited to see where we go from here.

Until next time,
Frogo Bloggins, a.k.a. Rebecca N.H.
