The Land Down Under

G'Day!

Our trip down under began with a few days exploring Sydney. We wandered around the entire city, going to museums, the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, China Town, art galleries, the Quay (pronunciation still uncertain), and even the zoo. We wanted to see the animals safely in the zoo before we had to yank them out of our sleeping bags in the Outback. During our time in Australia, we have yet to hear the thunder, and while women do seem to go here, we have not witnessed any plundering. The Men at Work's accuracy is under scrutiny, but they do have a few more weeks to redeem themselves. We have been driving around the Outback in what seems to be a mix between a bus, a semi, and a Transformer. We drove this Decepticon through a variety of places, including: Simpson's Gap, the ever so creatively named Ellery Creek Big Hole, the Ochre Pits where the Aboriginals obtain the clay used in ceremonies, Two Mile on the Finke River (which apparently is not where Eminem is from. Who knew?), Palm Valley, which is full of palm trees that do not grow for hundreds of miles outside of this valley, Gosse's Bluff, the site of a meteorite crash, King's Canyon, Mount Conner, Kata Tjuta, and finally Uluru, the largest free standing monolith in the world, which is pretty much just scientific gibberish for, "It's a big-ass rock". Gosse's Bluff is a common visiting spot for many conspiracy theorists, who believe that the crash was actually that of an alien spaceship and not a meteorite. This theory might help explain why Australians have such strange accents. While we were in the Outback, we have discovered that Australians have invented the lonely man's Frisbee. They just happen to call it a boomerang. This should be perfect for when none of our friends want to hang out with us anymore because all we do is talk about our amazing gap year. We miss you all very much, and we'll be home before you know it, with a few more stories and a god awful farmer's tan.

P.S. Shout out to my sister Anna. Sorry Aidan. Only one sibling shout out allowed.
