Hello to the Itza group’s family and friends from Carpe Diem HQ,
We hope you all are well and have been enjoying the blog and following along on Itza’s adventures. We wanted to let you all know about a small change we’ve made to Itza’s itinerary. As some of you may have heard, there has been a stomach bug going around the Itza group, and while everyone has been treated and is on the mend, many group members were feeling low energy and needed a a bit more time to rest and recuperate at the end of their time in Xela. The group had been planning on taking a three day backpacking trip from Xela to San Marcos, but in the interest of everyone’s health, the decision was made to stay in Xela for a couple of extra days. On Sunday, the group was able to take a day hike, followed by a visit to the hot springs, and then today (Monday) they will also be taking a day hike and then transitioning to San Marcos. The group has been very supportive of one another and are happy to be able to move forward all together to San Marcos.
They will post their own updates soon, but we just wanted to keep everyone informed and reassure you that we are making the group’s health and safety our priority.
All the best,
Heather Diamond, Program Director
