Kamwene friends and family! We are back in Iringa town and staying at a very nice hotel. Last week we arrived with open hearts and minds to Ohana Amani’s beautiful home and organic garden. We had a fantastically fun time hanging out with the sisters Curry and Chevy, and their friends Shannon, Hannah, and Anna-Sophia. They are some powerful ladies who inspired all of us. We had a glamorous camp site with a bon fire and even a nature squatty-potty. We all enjoyed relieving ourselves in the fresh air; as opposed to the typical crammed and smelly bus -stop bathrooms. We were lucky to have the wonderful Chevy teach us all about being creative in the kitchen and using garden fresh foods. Curry gave massages, taught about flower essences, and showed us what’s up in the garden. Every morning we practiced yoga and also set intentions for the day. Ohana Amani really connected us back to our roots. After a relaxing three days on the farm, we headed to Kanani Village for home stays! Everyone had a blast playing with their younger host siblings. We were set up in comfortable local homes with welcoming families. It was awesome to be fully immersed in their culture and experience daily village life. The food was great and everybody had a chance to cook some local cuisine. Although saying goodbye to our loving host families was hard, we were fortunate to take a beautiful sun rise stroll to the bus stop. Going back to Ohana Amani’s farm felt like coming home. Our family style home made meals there were a great time to bond with each other and share stories. Our group has become a very tight unit and we feel like family.
Endless love to you all!
