Our first week in Fiji has been an exciting one! We arrived at the airport and immediately felt the hot, heavy air. After piling all of our belongings, ourselves included, into a van we made our way to the Nadi Downtown Hotel where we would stay for 2 nights. The boys unleashed their inner little girl after finding a large cockroach in the bedroom, which eventually we got used to. The bugs not the screams. We spent the first day in Nadi purchasing our sulus and some gifts for family and friends back home. The second half of the day we made our way to the beach where we soaked and enjoyed ourselves until the sun went down. Afterwards, we called it a night and headed back the the hotel. Our stay in Nadi was short yet a good introduction to the real Fiji. After Nadi it was off to the village of Nananu where we met our home stay families that greeted us with love and flowers. Each day here has been a new adventure. We have been building sidewalks, playing with the children, and helping prepare the delicious food we gorge ourselves on each day. These few days have truly been a learning experience and we are ready for more to come.
