¡Hola desde Portland!
We’ve spent the last week in the Oregon woods collaborating and preparing for the semester of a lifetime with our colleagues. We could not be more excited to meet you all in just a few short days! Soon enough, we’ll be comfortably nestled into a Guatemalan bus, sweating and drinking in the humid air as we wind our way through the mountains to the captivating city of Xela (Quetzaltenango). Tortillas, pineapples, homestays, and volcanoes await our arrival.
It is hard to prepare for something new. We have begun to get ready in the best ways we know how: photocopying our passports, purchasing our probiotics, making farewell calls to our friends and families, bringing our favorite snacks and reminders of home, and packing our packs to make sure everything fits.
We are also remembering to take some time for ourselves to set intentions and goals for the upcoming semester by journaling in the morning, reading before bed, and hitting our yoga mats in the afternoon.
See you all in LAX at 8:30pm PST on Tuesday! Let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
