After over 24 hours of traveling, we arrived safely in Africa!
It’s REALLY hot here—sunny and beautiful every day! The bugs aren’t bad and it cools down quite a bit at night (it gets dark around 7 pm) and the stars are AMAZING!!
So far we’ve had a lot of logistical stuff! We’re enjoying our time here, but are really excited to jump in and start getting busy with service projects.
We’ve been here in Morogoro the last two nights in an adorable little place owned by the kindest Greek lady. It kind of reminds us of Mama Mia! We’ve spent some time exploring the town—it’s very middle class and has a cute little downtown full of bustling markets and mountains in the backdrop. We’ve gone through the markets and even hiked to a little river where we swam and cooled off. Two more nights in the hostel and then we are heading to our homestays in Morogoro.
We’re really looking forward to that and are hoping to make a good connection with our host families!
We also start language school to add to the little Swahili we’ve already picked up! Our group dynamic is fantastic; we have had a blast getting to know one another and this is just the beginning!
Sending good vibes home.
