Hola! we just spent two weeks in the city of Arequipa, Peru. We spent our time volunteering at a girls home, as well as a week of intensive spanish classes. At the girls home we built a new bedroom so that the girls can have more space.
We wanted to share some of our halloween traditions with them, so we threw them a fall harvest festival party. We each created a fun game for the night and brought a LOT of candy and snacks. We ended the night with a wild dance off, showing off our best moves. The party went really well, and we all enjoyed sharing our different cultural traditions. After the party we played an intense game of volley, E.E.U.U. vs Peru.
My other favorite part of Arequipa was visiting the traditional market. There was a stand for anything you could possibly want, from electronic parts to goat heads to cleaning supplies to delicous juice stands. We stopped and ate some amazing queso helado.
Arequipa was a great experience, and i will miss our long coffee afternoons, but we are all ready to move forward to Cusco and begin our next adventure.
Adiós!
