everyone is enjoying their time at their home stays. yesterday we went to the blue pottery, a textiles and pottery shop where we learned how to do printing on very soft cotton with ink and beautifully hand crafted stamps. we also made elephant prints that we were able to take, Alex and James got them printed on their shirts. after lunch we were lectured on Indian policy, parliamentary democracy and multi-party systems. it was cool learning about the Indian constitution. The girls went to a local Bazaar and bought corti pajamas and harem pants which we all are planning to wear faithfully. Monet and i got Henna! we all made good friends with a shopkeeper who we haggled prices with, in exchange for a picture that Georgia took. Our morning yoga class was cancelled yesterday due to the light morning rain, so instead it happened this morning. we played a few rounds of shuttlecock(Google it!) and then headed off to Kalakar Basti, which is a cool artist colony in the slums where we were able to practice our Hindi , we were all able to introduce ourselves to them in their language and i am sure it made them very happy. we learned some dance moves, helped sew a quilt and bead a necklace. the local kids wanted nothing more from us than just to hold our hands. it was a great experience!
tonight Georgia and i are going to a birthday of a relative of our host family, so exciting!
we are all enjoying sundar (beautiful) India
