Today. we had an amazing day exploring a breathtaking beach with our family and friends at the village. We played countless games of vollyball, swam like fish for hours, played some beach soccer and ate some tasty sandwiches for lunch. We then headed back to the village for preperation of a bountiful dinner as usual. The next day was spent with our home stay families, talking, laughing and exchanging life stories. That night after dinner, the Carpe group put on a talent show on for the whole village! We sang songs, danced, laughed and took part in the cultural drinking of kava, as this was our last night in the village.
We woke up bright and early the next morning ready to depart. We were sad to leave the life-long connections we made between the people we met on this incredible week. They gave us amazing meals every day, provided us with some of the most genuine hospitality we have ever seen, and just offered us to take part in their culture. This was purely paradise.
We waved our goodbyes, shared hugs and tears, and left for the next leg of our spectacular adventure. That day was a long one filled with travel, as we took public busses, and ferry’s to where we would find our contact Nazil, who turned out to be one of our favorites, in Suva which is the capitol of Fiji. He took us to our hotel for the night, Casa Blanca. The next morning, we ate lunch and explored the town of Sigatoka, and ended up at Nazil’s house for the next couple of nights, where we would stay until our flight to Australia. While staying at his house, he brought us to the hot springs, where we encased ourselves in mud from head-to-toe, and washed it off in the relaxing, tranquil and natual springs. we even got messages there!
At this point in on our trip, we are so fond and used to the airport, that when we arrived it was a piece of cake finding our flight to Australia! It was a really nice flight, and I think speak for the group when I say it was a perfect time for us to reflect on our time in Fiji. We learned so much about their culture, and what is was like to be Fijian. I think we all learned a little bit about ourselves.
Heres to the last Country we travel to on our trip, with ever-lasting memories, and new life lessons to be learned!
