Carpe Diem Meraki group has landed in Greece! Two flights, a car ride, and many snacks later we’ve finally arrived in Crete. We’re staying in the beautiful mountain village of Agios Ioannis, getting to know each other, and eating tons of delicious home cooked Greek cuisine. This week is all about group culture, orientation, and seaside swims. We started Greek lessons with Maria, toured the local town with Xeno, and introduced ourselves to the many sweet cats and dogs of the town. Tomorrow we’ll learn about the intersection of climate change and archeology and later this week we’ll drive to Heraklion to see the ancient palace of Knossos and visit the archeological museum.
We’re so excited to get to lead with this special group of students. There’s never a quiet moment at dinner as they’re eager to get to know one another and learn more about Greece and our hosts! We can’t wait to see their passions unfold over the course of this trip and discover how much this trip will mold their minds and tummies.
