Hi there! I have been in Australia for about 6 weeks now and man time is sure flying by! I am volunteering at the Dolphin Discovery Centre and I am having an absolute blast. When I am spending my mornings at the Centre I am doing a variety of things. Looking out for dolphins, talking to tourists about them and teaching about conservation. I have also started to become an aquarium feeder for small marine animals and that is a blast. Not only am I learning so much but I am able to teach and expand the importance of conservation to those around me. I have also been going on swim tours recently, here I am able to swim with wild dolphins in a safe environment. They truly are amazing creatures and I have found a great love for them while I have been here.
While I am not at the centre I have been filling up my free time with volunteering with other organizations around Bunbury and making a lot of new friends from around the area. Being on my own and having so much independence has taught me a great deal about myself. One of the most important things I think I have learned while being here is putting yourself out there and not being afraid of speaking your mind. If you are always quite and not asking those questions you desire then you will always be wondering what that answer will be. Take charge of your life and make the things you want happen. I have learned to make the most of your situation, the decision is already made and your job is to make whatever it is the right decision.
Until next time
Kaitlyn
