Last weekend, we exchanged the normal contents of our packs for tents, sleeping bags, and lots of food before embarking on a strenuous (to say the least) 2 day trek through the highlands of Guatemala. On the first day, we were greeted with rain, fog, and even a downpour of hail. We didn’t let the chilly first night ruin our attitudes though, and we enjoyed a fun second day of hiking with amazing views across Guatemala, and we ended our trip at some beautiful natural hot springs.
Conveniently, we arrived on Monday at the Mystical Yoga Farm on the shore of Lake Atitlan, where we eased our sore muscles with meditiation and yoga. Other “mystical” activities included a supermoon ceremony complete with dancing and chanting around a fire, a cocao cermony where we were informed about the realities of aliens and the impending economic downfall of 2020, a tea ceremony, and some dance meditation to send us off this morning.
After a very bumpy boat ride, and a few hours on a microbus, we have arrived safe and sound in the city of Antigua. We are all excited to relax and enjoy some free time during this student-directed travel.
Miss you all back home,
Casey and Tyler
