Day three in Delhi. Insanity. First of all, it feels weird to be on the internet. I have really enjoyed being unplugged.
The roads here are absolute chaos. The taxis, motorcycles, tuck tucks(?), pedestrians, and wild animals all fight for space on the narrow streets. It makes me so appreciative of crosswalks. You can’t go 1.3 seconds without hearing a horn honk. There are also lots of interesting odors here. The air is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Its also pretty sticky here but I am starting to adjust.
Side note: YouTube is not allowed here.
Among all of the chaos and humidity, India is filled with beauty. On the streets there are many shrines and sacred spaces of worship. Giant Ganesha statues and alters right next to beggars on the street. I also appreciate the little pom poms on the taxis and beautiful saris the women wear so casually. The vast array of delicious food is never ending! My stomach is always in ecstasy. There is no shortage of funky trinkets and cool clothes available for bartering.
We are on an adventure around Delhi for the afternoon and we head to Jaipur by bus tomorrow at six AM!
Namaste for now,
Amber and Omar
