This week, our eyes were opened to the majestic ancient world of Ayutthaya. Ayutthaya being the capitol of the Ayutthaya Kingdom that spanned from 351 to 1767. There were many ruins that included many Pegotas and stupas. The first day we arrived from an overnight bus and promptly rented bikes and were guided By blake to several ancient ruin’s including the famous reclining Buddha and three identical stupa’s that were built as tombs for three prominent kings. The next day we were given time to explore the city independently, many of us renting bikes and exploring more that the city had to offer. At night we walked to a night markets were there was exiting and cheap foods for us to try to eat like the locals. We then soon left Ayutthaya and took a public bus to Bangkok. The city was more populated and modern that we had anticipated and we spend the first day using public transport to explore the center of the cities commerce. The following day we had the chance to navigate Bangkok independently, which we soon found was not as easy as it sounds. We walked and used public transportation to a Hindu temple and walked the streets of the central tourist area of Bangkok. Quickly realizing it was not the affordable nor especially captivating, we found our way back to our hostel and enjoyed a nice cheap bowl of Chinese soup.
