Even though we have only visited four different cities and villages in Northern India, it is already apparent how diverse the landscape, culture, and people can be. We have seen the dry quiet mountains of the arid village of Jhadol. We have seen the temples and camels reflected in the lakes of Udaipur. We have seen the absolute chaos that somehow comes together to create Delhi. And we have seen the contrast between the bright pink buildings and the uniform blue of the sky in Jaipur. Throughout this widely varied land, it seems as if only one things remains constant: incredible chai tea. There is no doubt that chai tea is a group favorite; each of us drinks at least two cups a day. Whenever we are exhausted, stressed, and in need of a pick-me-up, we come together for a “chai moment”. It is a way to take a much needed break from the constant excitement in India and come back together as a group. So, to bring a little of our trip back home to you, I have included Mama-Ji Sharma’s delicious (if maybe a little unhealthy) chai tea recipe. Enjoy!
