Bula bula! 2015 walkabout group has wrapped up our month in New Zealand. We made it safely to Fiji! We are all ready for tropical shorts and flip flops weather. We arrived yesterday in Nadi then took a short van ride to our hostel in New Town. The city is very unique and not like anything I have experienced before. I love the island vibe and all the positive energy the locals give off.
Tomorrow we are heading to Suva, where we will stay one night in a hostel then make our way to Nasoto, on the island of Vanua Levu. There are rumors that the ferry ride could be anywhere from 4-9 hours, so we’ll see when we get there! We are all very excited to meet our home stay families and dive into the Fijian culture and experience the simplicity of the island lifestyle. We will be in a village for the first 2 weeks working on a volunteer project and embracing a new way of living with our home stay families. After that we have our student directed travel to wrap up our time in Fiji, which is still up in the air for where we will be staying and what we will be doing, but I’m praying that time consists of a lot of surfing and other beach activities! Just a reminder, as many of you probably already know we will not be in contact for the 2 weeks in our village. So family and friends, we’ll talk to you in 2 weeks!
