Waking up at 4:30 in the morning never gets any easier. We rode over to the Angkor World Heritage site in tuk tuks as a group. Arriving before sunrise, we quickly flashed our Angkor passes to the ticket checker and were off to exploring this amazing world heritage site for the next eight hours. We first went the famous temple of Angkor Wat. Right when we arrived, there was already a huge crowd gathered taking pictures from the distance, as the sun was beginning to appear. As much as I hate early mornings, this one one that we all will remember. The temple look extremely unique from the outside at this time of day. After taking many many photos we moved on to entering the actual temple. This temple has some extremely cool architecture and carvings all along the walls, which caught my eye. After spending a few hours there we broke for an extremely tasty breakfast. Many of us got our first taste of pancakes in a while. They were particularly great because they were served with nutella and banana. After we hopped back in the tuk tuks and were brought to another temple, which was just as amazing. Each of the temples we visited today all had their own unique features to them. For example, one had huge tree roots growing on top of part of temple, while another one head interesting faces carved into many sides of the different structures in the site of the temple. After visiting many temples our tiredness and hunger was catching up to us and we headed back for our hostel. Today we truly had an amazing experience that we will never forget.
