Hello everyone, Damian here, it’s my turn to write this weeks blog. I’ve noticed that there’s an absence of photos, so this week I thought that I would change it up a bit and post visuals for the great descriptions previous bloggers have mentioned. Before I get to that, here’s an update of what’s been going on since our last post. Our last few days at the turtle conservation felt more like a fun group activity that was accompanied by music playing from Lucy’s speaker and quirky comments such as, ”do you even sift bro?”. Our short week in Camaronal came to an end with us working in the hatchery ”eggs-cavating” turtle nests and releasing new born turtles into the Pacific Ocean. After waking up on Saturday at 3 AM, we made our way to Alejuela, Costa Rica, where we spent the day and were rewarded with movie tickets to the new film: 300 Rise of an Empire. The next morning was spent traveling by air and driving down winding roads until we made it to Xela (pronounced Shey-La) where we were welcomed with open arms at our new home stays. Since our arrival at Xela, we have been taking intense 5 hour daily Spanish courses at Casa Xelaju (Shey-La-Who), a Spanish school with 25 years of teaching experience. Though we’ve only been here for a few days, I’ve noticed a difference in my own Spanish speaking abilities, as well as others in our group. Phew! Now that I got that out of the way, here are my photos, I hope you enjoy them!
