We arrived in Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday to begin our stay here for only 3 nights! Our time in Rwanda has been filled with sadness, but also hope, determination, and of course some fun. Throughout our time here we visited the genocide memorial museum which gave us great insight into the horrific period of 1994. We also visited Nyamata church, this is a church where thousands and thousands of Rwandans were massacred. After seeing these two memorials sites our group was left very disturbed and overwhelmed. How could other humans do these things to other humans, just turning on your neighbors, friends, and family over night is not even fathomable for any of us. Other than looking at the history of Rwanda, there is a girl in a group who has a friend who lives here. She showed us around the city, showed us a few good restaurants and a place to try the coffee here. The city of Kigali is the cleanest city we have seen so far in east africa, and also very different from others we have been too and very interesting. On Saturday night her family welcomed us into her home for an amazing feast! The food was delicious. At dinner we also got to talk to her family members to learn about them, as they also learned about us. We all wish we had more time here but, today is March 24 and we will be leaving for Uganda in about 3 hours!
TEAM AFRICA!!!!!
