Hello from New Zealand! We just got back from hiking up a very large mountain which happened to be next to where they filmed Mt. Doom from The Lord of the Rings. Everyone did great and we completed the entire hike in less than six hours and ahead of schedule. It’s amazingly beautiful here, there is so much to see and do. It’s sad that we have to leave tomorrow. Currently we are at “The Park Traveller’s Lodge” in a place called Ruapehu, New Zealand. Tomorrow we leave to go meet the experts from BMAC (Blue Mountain Adventure Center) to begin things like climbing, hiking, and white water rafting. We can’t wait!
We recently finished our time WOOFING on a New Zealand farm, which was an incredable expirence. We learned how the daily like of a farmhand works and were able to help out Tom and PJ quite a bit. It was sad to leave the family after only one week, but the night before we left the two boys George (12)and Ben (10) performed a Haka for us. The Haka is a traditional Maori war dance that has been passed down in New Zealand for generations. It is most well know by the New Zealand rugby team the”All-Blacks” who perform it before every game. I happened to film the boys and will try to put it on our blog. They were quite good and we all enjoyed their dancing. It’s been an eventful trip so far and evryone is feeling good about the coming weeks.
Respectfully,
Walker Davis
