Happily in Xela

We are currently in Xela at our first language school. Almost everyone, it appears, has a love affair with their teacher. We have one on one classes everyday from 8 AM to 1 PM. They´re very flexible and many of us have gone to the market, a menonite bakery, a church service, or have just walked around for class. We have the afternoons free; yesterday we learned how to make chocolate the traditional way in the house of an older woman named Josefina. It was also carnival where it´s a tradition to throw eggs, confetti and flour at everyone and everything. Jana and I, Jessie, were ¨floured¨multiple times. I received many flouring experiences as my house is right behind carnival and boys are quick to throw flour at passing ¨gringos¨. Needless to say I needed a shower. Today I, Ana, experienced a church service for ash Wednesday. It was very interesting to witness a service in a different country. There were many similarites but it was also more conservative than I am used to. As a group, many of us have been attending yoga class at a lace called The House of Yoga. It has been very relaxing and rejuvinating, especially since it is in the evening after a long day. Tonight is going to be full of yoga and art at Allison and Benjis apartment. We will keep you updated later in the week.

Peace to all,

Jessie and Ana
