Mambo! After our stay at the Maasai village we headed off for a three day safari. We began at Lake Manyara Park for our first taste of African wildlife. Here we saw zebras, elephants and giraffes. The next day after a treacherous three hour drive we reached the Serengeti. In the morning we saw the first human footprints at the Serengeti museum. In the afternoon, during the safari, we saw lions, leopards, and cheetahs! We were told we were very lucky to see all of the big cats. The next morning on our way to Ngorangora Crater we saw cheetahs hunting a gazelle which was the highlight of the safari. In the crater we were fortunate enough to see three black rhinos (an endangered species), completing the big five- buffalo, lion, elephant, rhino and leopard! We travelled to Usa to stay with Pete and Charlotte Oniel at the UAACC for a well deserved rest.
