Dear families out there,
In case you haven't heard, we're in Kolkata this week! Each day, we've been getting up at 6 am and splitting up to go spend the mornings doing service at our chosen Mother Theresa home– some of us are working with physically or developmentally disabled kids, some of us are working with older mentally disabled women, and some of us (including me!) are working in the home for the destitute and dying.
While the service we're doing is sometimes really hard– I feel like I've learned more about life and death in the last three days than I have in my whole life– I know I'm super grateful to see the inspiring love and compassion that volunteers from all over the world bring to mixed with some positive feelings, too. I'm truly glad we have a week here to experience this place, and to see this side of India.
Lots of love,
Hava
p.s. We live less than a block from a restaurant that makes the best naan I have tasted to far in India so that is really helping me!
